Heading Home

"Heading Home" is a song by English-Norwegian DJ Alan Walker and Norwegian singer Ruben, released by MER Musikk on 1 April 2020.

Alan first performed the song at the X-Games Norway in 2016, and since then there has been nothing new about the song, but in 2020 Alan released "Heading Home."

history of song

About the song, Walker said:

"Right after we released 'Faded' in 2015, we started a demo project called 'Heading Home'. We performed it live once, and since then we've been working on a few edits and never actually released it.

That live performance alone quickly made it a popular song among walkers. They kept requesting me to release it, so I'm happy to finally do so. We also decided to release the original demo as a little treat for the walkers who have been asking for it for years! - he said.

Harrison Watson of We Rave You writes:

"The track opens with a beautiful guitar melody, immediately followed by Ruben's rustic vocals. Walker introduces a rhythmic percussion section that leads into the breakdown."

music video

The music video for the song was shot on location in Cambodia and directed by Christian Berg, one of the main driving forces behind World of Walker's global content.

The story is told through the audiovisual world of music videos released since "Faded. The video for "Heading Home" is from "On My Way" and "Alone, Pt. II" and is the final episode in the trilogy.

The music video for this song is on the selection list for the 2021 Silver Screening of the Berlin Music Video Awards.

Main storyline

In ancient times, three thousand years ago or earlier, there was a civilization known as the Wanderers. They were one of the most advanced groups of people, standing out due to their possession of advanced tools and knowledge. Their main base was in the city of Walkers, located in the jungle. From there, they expanded over time to establish eight secure points around the world using AVI-8 drone technology, with each Walker having a personal companion drone.

The story from "Heading Home" begins by introducing one of the representatives of this civilization. One day, she decided to move away from the Walker city, perhaps because of a sculpture in the city walls depicting prophetic disks. These disks foretold two catastrophic events that would threaten all of humanity. The sculpture showed meteors flying toward the Walkers.

Climbing one of the tallest trees, the girl used binoculars to look into the sky. To her horror, she saw meteors from the sculpture flying down toward the city. Although she didn't believe her eyes at first, after a second look, she knew she had to warn her companions, as they were all in grave danger. She ran through streams, leaves, and branches to get back to the city as quickly as possible. AVI-8 drones were flying above her, indicating she was getting closer to her destination.

Upon reaching the city, the girl found one of the sage Walkers teaching sixteen young students how to fly AVI-8 drones. He was so experienced that he had two drones, an accomplishment achieved by very few Walkers. Interrupting the lesson, she handed the old Walker the binoculars so he could see the incoming meteors for himself. Sending out training drones, he gathered the Walkers, and together they assembled a time capsule containing the drones and artifacts such as their art and prophecy disks. These items were meant to send a message to future generations.

They buried the capsule and went to the bunker they had created years earlier. The girl was the last to enter, making sure everyone managed to get in before her. Soon, meteors fell on the city, destroying it and leaving it in flames. The meteor shower wiped out the rest of the world, possibly ending the Walker civilization.

However, their legacy survived and was remembered by subsequent civilizations. Passed down orally and, over time, written down, it has survived for thousands of years.

A young girl named Lily, while staying at the Chateau de Fontainebleau, finds a book entitled "The Symbolic Meaning" by D.H. Lawrence and Armin Arnold, in which she discovers the history of this forgotten civilization. As she reads it, she begins to imagine the entire story.

theories by walkers

According to fan theories, the girl in Heading Home was Lily/Walker #28300 at the time. Who, while reading the book, recalls her former past.

In my opinion, Lily and that girl are related to each other through blood ties and the prophecy disk she activated caused the dormant memories of her ancestor to be awakened in her. Thus, while reading the book, she was able to remember everything and relive it again (maybe some disks work like the Animus from Assasin's Creed and read memories stored in DNA?)

modern walkers era

timeline

Notes:

- As indicated in the timeline, there are several instances where the videos are shown multiple times. This is due to the various flashbacks depicted in them. For example, in "Paradise," scenes depict Lily painting a house, among other things.

- The entire timeline revolves around clips that took place between 2013 and 2025 (what we call the Modern Walkers Era)

- It is worth noting that the "Paradise Live Performance" does not necessarily conform to canon. This is only a speculative theory and has not been officially confirmed.

- Alone on the timeline is placed first, but its placement in time is not very important (and is only speculation)

- Also, the placement of Heading Home, Live At Chateu and Alone Pt. II may differ
